I’ve been doing some writing for Visit Walla Walla and enjoying digging into the kind of stories that the magazine trade calls “service” pieces—”how-to” itineraries and recommendations curated to help readers find the best restaurants, activities, and experiences of a suggested locale.

I recently turned my attention to two of Walla Walla’s tasting districts: The Airport District, which might sound off the beaten path but is only a 4 mile bike ride from downtown (Toby and I ride it frequently), and Milton-Freewater, Oregon, for a look at what’s going on.

Here’s my post on the Airport District, with a focus on the season’s second annual Harvest Festival (coming up this Saturday, October 19th), and one of many ways you could spend a day tasting and touring south of the border in Milton-Freewater, Oregon.
Happy trails! I’ll be back soon to tell you more about my trip through the vineyards and wine growing appellations of Washington state.
